Clark resident Nancy Azevedo Bonilla wants officers to know that the community stands behind them and supports them.

CLARK, NJ — Clark resident Nancy Azevedo Bonilla is selling signs to support and show her local police department that the community stands behind them.
"I just feel like it's been a really hard time for law enforcement around the country and specifically for Clark," Bonilla said. "They have been under the microscope for a while and I wanted to show them we support them."
The Clark Police Department recently came under fire when the Union County Prosecutor's Office took over the department following allegations of misconduct from top officials in the department. Read More: Prosecutor Takes Over Clark Police After Misconduct Allegations

Police departments across the country have also faced criticism and calls to "defund the police" following the killing on George Floyd.
"Before all of this happened I saw a lot of good guys in action," Bonilla said. "I believe a lot of the officers have integrity and I want to show the town supports them."

Bonilla came up with a logo and had the signs printed. She has since sold more than 500 signs to residents in town and even in neighboring towns.
The signs are $10 each and cover just the amount of the cost of the sign. Bonilla is also offering free signs for retired or current police officers. Those interested can reach out to Bonilla on Facebook to order a sign at facebook.com/nancynazevedo.
"I don't have anyone in my family in law enforcement. I just felt like they needed someone to speak up on their behalf," Bonilla said. "They do a really nice job in town and we need to support them."
