Clark Schools Push Back Opening Date Until After Labor Day

Clark Public Schools has pushed back its opening date to give staff more time to prepare for the hybrid and virtual learning plans.

CLARK, NJ — Clark Public Schools has pushed back its opening date until after Labor Day to give staff more time to prepare for the hybrid and virtual learning plans.

The new reopening date will be Tuesday, Sept. 8. Additionally, from Tuesday, Sept. 1 to Friday, Sept. 4 will now serve as four staff professional development days.

Back to School nights will remain as early dismissal days with no a.m. or p.m. sessions as students will be remote. The Back to School nights are:

  • Valley Road Elementary School: Monday, Sept. 14
  • Arthur L. Johnson High School: Tuesday, Sept. 15
  • Frank K. Hehnly School: Wednesday, Sept. 16
  • Carl H. Kumpf Middle School: Thursday, Sept. 17
  • Clark Preschool: Monday, Sept. 21

The district's reopening plan is offering two options: fully virtual or a hybrid model.

Arthur L. Johnson High School, Carl H. Kumpf Middle School, Frank K. Hehnly Elementary School, and Valley Road Elementary School will be running on an a.m./p.m. schedule where half of the students at each school will be assigned by the district to one of the two in-person sessions

The Preschool class is already a half-day program.
