Man In Clark Basement Found With Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound
A Terhune Road homeowner was found dead in the basement after firefighters responded and put out a small fire that had been set: Police.

CLARK, NJ — A Terhune Road homeowner was found dead in the basement of a Clark home after firefighters reported to a possible gas leak on Wednesday night.
The Clark Fire Department responded to Terhune Road home at 9:33 p.m. on Jan. 3 after the daughter of the resident stopped in to check on her dad, according to Clark Police Chief Pedro M. Matos.
Upon arrival firefighters discovered a smoke condition due to a basement fire.

A total of three engines and a ladder truck and about 20 firefighters were on the scene, Clark Fire Chief Frank J. Cerasa said.
Firefighters put out a small fire that had been set in the basement, Matos said.

That's when the homeowner a 58-year-old man was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the basement, Matos said.
Union County Arson squad and Clark Police Department responded to investigate. The investigation is ongoing.
