Dobby Is Clark-Garwood's Pet Of The Week

CLARK/GARWOOD, NJ — Meet Dobby! He has been chosen as Clark-Garwood Patch's Pet Of The Week.

"I am Dobby! He was found on the streets of Virginia when he was only a few months old. He was living at a rescue where he was passed up by many families due to his original shy and timid ways.

While at this rescue, his foster mom had two very large dogs who liked to pick on him, which made him very scared of ALL dogs. The foster mom saw a post that I had made only a week after I lost my first fur-baby at 15 years old. I needed another dog in my life, not just for me but for my other dog who only knew life with her best friend forever that just passed away.

So I met this woman on the side of the highway, where she basically handed me Dobby and walked away crying. She knew I would love him and treat him well. Little did she know, how well. Dobby is now well adjusted to smaller dogs with the help of his new and much older sister, Ginger.

Dobby is also now my official service dog and gets to go everywhere with me. He has traveled, he has played on the beach and the mountains, he hangs weekly at the local bowling alley where I run a blind/visually impaired bowling league and he gets to go places I DJ at.

Dobby likes me to bring his blanket along so he can crawl up under my table and take a nap. He is known everywhere and those shy and timid ways are a thing of the past. Dobby is now about 4 years old and still a bit fearful of large dogs, however he is making progress each and everyday. I was so blessed when Dobby came into my life and our bond is amazing. He is my fur-brat for life!"

Participating in the Pet of the Week happenings is simple: submit your nomination by emailing alexis.tarrazi@patch.com with subject line "Clark-Garwood Pet Of The Week." Be sure to include a photograph or two of your pet, a paragraph about what makes him or her so great, and the town you're from.

You can choose to include your name, but you don't need to. Then just keep an eye out for a photo of your pet on the Patch!

The photo can be of a present pet, or it can be a baby picture of the adult pet you're so proud of today. All photos must be property of the submitter.

Additionally, selected winners each week will be given a free small gift basket filled with treats and goodies when they stop at In-N-Out Dog Wash at 300 North Ave. in Garwood. And winners can also bring their pet into the store for a picture. In-N-Out will put them up on their Facebook page as well.
