Engagement Of A Lifetime: Clark Man Proposes During Solar Eclipse

Watch this video of Clark local Adam Goetz as he proposes to Dana Russo during the solar eclipse at Manasquan Beach.

CLARK, NJ — Clark local Adam Goetz wanted to propose to his girlfriend, Dana Russo, of three years in a very special way. And he did just that when he got down on one knee during the solar eclipse and popped the question.

“I was trying to plan out a good idea to propose to Dana since she is a big fan and loves the beach,” Goetz told Patch.

The couple was already planning on vacationing with family at Manasquan beach for the week so it worked out that their plans were during the solar eclipse.

Goetz asked Russo’s parents, Dean and Cindy who own Personally Yours Gift Baskets in Clark, for their permission and help to put his proposal into action.

Goetz wanted to get the perfect effect during the eclipse when he proposed.

“I waited until really about the end of the eclipse because I wanted the fullest diamond ring effect," Goetz said.

Although New Jersey didn’t get the full solar eclipse, waiting towards the end gave him the best chance of the effect Goetz wanted.

When Goetz proposed, Russo was definitely surprised as seen in the video taken by Russo’s younger brother Drew.

“It was a historic day because of the solar eclipse,” Goetz said of the proposal. “It was definitely memorable.”

The couple is now shooting to get married in the fall of 2018.
