Comedy Night Fund-raiser - New Jersey Youth Theatre

On Thursday evening, February 16, 2012 the New Jersey Youth Theatre will host a Comedy Night fund-raiser, to benefit its school Cabaret program and the summer production of “Smokey’s Joes Café”, to be presented at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

“By supporting Comedy Night, patrons will be contributing to the well-being and longevity of NJYT,” states Cynthia Meryl, co-founder of the school, “helping to sustain the NJYT Performing Arts School and the free summer production program in association with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.”

Comedy Night will take place at The Crossroads in Garwood, New Jersey and features the talents of the Gilda’s Club Laugh-Off Award winner Robin Fox; Crisis Comedy Contest winner Kim Jonny; and improvisational comedian and actor Aaron Eisenberg.  The evening will be hosted by Renee Minter.  All four comedians hail from New Jersey and have performed extensively in clubs in the tri-state area and around the country.  They all boast numerous credits from television, radio, film and the internet. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., with the performance beginning at 8 o’clock.  The price of admission for the show only, is $40.00 dollars.  Food and beverages can be purchased separately throughout the evening.

PERFORMER’S BIOS

Aaron Eisenberg is an Actor/Writer/Comedian based in New York City. Recently he could be seen as a weekly correspondent on MTV's "The Seven". Before this, Aaron was both the host and creator of the popular web series "The Intern Asks" on People Magazine's website, People.com. As a stand-up, he has performed at Caroline’s, Comix, and Gotham comedy clubs as well as venues in Brooklyn, Chicago, and Michigan. In 2010, Aaron taught improvisation at NJYT. Currently he is completing a new web show called "Your Dad's Friends". He is a recent graduate of Northwestern University.

Kim Jonny was a finalist in the Gilda’s Laugh Off and winner of the Comedy Crisis Comedy Contest in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  She can be seen in New York Clubs such as Caroline’s, Stand Up New York, Gotham Comedy, Broadway Comedy Club and The Comedy Cellar.
Her Jersey appearances include The Comedy Cove at Scotty’s, The Stress Factory, Rascals and Uncle Vinnie’s.  She has worked with Geechy Guy from America’s Got Talent in November at the Bonkerz Comedy Club at the Louie Anderson Theatre in Las Vegas. Her comedy is a mix of life as a teacher, mother and wife with a crazy Italian family!   Kim is a member of SAG and AFTRA.  Check out the National Geographic Commercial on her website, www.kimjonny.com. Robin Fox, Host of the 2011 Lucie Awards at Lincoln Center and winner of the 2010 Gilda's Club Laugh-Off Award, this very funny New Jersey Mom decided after 17 years of being a housewife that being the funniest mom on the block wasn't enough for her.  Ten years ago Robin moved her act from the school bus stop to the stage.  Robin is a powerhouse and her act puts a unique spin on her 27 year marriage, kids, her aging parents and suburban life and so much more.  Audiences took to this "Mother like no other" from the very start.  Robin Fox quickly rose through the comedy ranks and can be seen performing at some of the top Comedy Clubs and venues through out NYC and the northeast.  Robin’s talent was quickly noticed as she distinguished herself at several comedy competitions. She’s the winner of Philadelphia's Funniest -1st runner up, Bud Lights Ladies of Laughter, at the finals for The Laugh off at Caroline's, and Baltimore's funniest.  She can be heard on rotation on XM and Sirius Satellite Radio.  She has been a guest several times on WOR's Joey Reynolds show.  Robin has also appeared on WE Entertainment television.  Robin is a favorite at clubs and private events.

Renee Minter As the single Jersey mom of three boys ages 11-14 there was only one way Renee could possibly keep her sanity and that was to embark on a stand up comedy career.  Renee debuted her act four years ago at the Broadway Comedy Club in New York City and since then has appeared at the New York Comedy Club, Scotty's Comedy Cove, Tumulty's Mclynn's, area YMCA's and country clubs and the Crossroads in New Jersey.
