Explore the interplay between children and waterways through this unique collaboration between D&R Greenway Land Trust and the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association. Join naturalist Jeff Hoagland, Education Director at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, for a family-friendly exploration of the Stony Brook. Bring a picnic to eat on the Carroll K. and Frederick P. King Terrace at D&R Greenway's Johnson Education Center and enjoy the illuminating exhibit Born of Wonder - Childhood and Nature in D&R Greenway's Marie L. Matthews Gallery beforehand.

On the walk, meet some of the brook's many inhabitants, and observe the dynamics of her flow as she courses toward Carnegie Lake. Participants will learn how and where to find stream life; and, using small nets, will meet stream creatures up close. This will be a nice, ambling exploration. Old sneakers (or boots) are ideal, allowing participants to explore the shallows of the brook. The walk will run from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.

Pre-registration is required and there is a donation requested to support the education program of the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association.

Please register by emailing info@drgreenway.org or calling 609.924.4646.
