The Jersey Central Railway Historical Society will sponsor its annual Train Show and Sale, at the Mother Seton Regional High School, 1 Valley Road, Clark, NJ (off exit 135 of the Garden State Parkway) on Sunday, March 4, 2012, from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Admission to the day long event is $5 per adult, children under 12 free, maximum family admission is $10.00.
The train show is one of the premier shows in the Northeast, that it differs from other train shows which strictly focus on model trains. This show, which consists of more than 130 tables of merchandise for sale and displays, combines both model trains, from the small N Gauge to the larger G Gauge sizes, and railroadiana. This includes almost anything related to the railroad industry, including, timetables, maps, books, DVDs, photographs (prints and slides), postcards, china and silverware, playing cards, builders plates and horns. Several local historical groups will be represented including the Friends of the New Jersey Rail and Transportation Heritage Center, Liberty Historic Railroad, Inc., United Railway Historical Society, and the Whippany Railway Museum.
During the day, professionally produced railroad documentaries will be shown, door prizes given out, and even an HO Train set, donated by the Train Room of Point Pleasant, will be raffled. Proceeds of the show go towards the preservation of rail and transportation equipment.

Throughout the years, the Jersey Central Railway Historical Society, a chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, has donated funds to restore locomotives of Jersey Central and Pennsylvania Railroad heritage. The society sponsors a recipient to the NRHS's Railcamp program, held each year at Steamtown National Park, located in Scranton, Pa. The chapter meets the first Tuesday of each month at the American Legion Hall, located on North Avenue in Westfield, at 7:30 pm. After a short business meeting, a rail or transportation program is presented.
At the March 6, 2012 meeting, author historian John Busch will present "The Steam Coffin," which is the story of the SAVANNAH, the first steam powered ship to traverse the Atlantic Ocean. Mr. Busch will be offering autographed copies of his book of the same name that evening.
