On Monday, Sept. 12, Fun ‘n Fit will be offering a new session of fun, sound, challenging and convenient classes to area residents at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 213 Center St. in Garwood. This program is really FUN! Not only does the music motivate you, but the instructors and the friendly atmosphere also get you going. You can do this! The philosophy has always been to work at your own pace, while challenging yourself physically, and to have fun doing it, so that exercise becomes a regular, enjoyable part of your life.
The program is designed so that people of all ages and abilities feel comfortable and get a great workout. Each class is a non-competitive, stress-relieving, “great for your whole self” hour of accomplishments. The class always includes a warm-up and stretch, easy to follow aerobics, beginning with low impact and gradually building up to a higher intensity, a weighted arm workout, leg workout, abdominal work and a cool and stretch.
Every class is different due to the addition of exercise styles from pilates, yoga, kettle bell and kick boxing. This makes for a great variety of moves and assures that the participant does not get bored. A time of relaxation and peacefulness has been added to the end of the class. This time has proven to be a very important and special part of the experience and participants have truly embraced it. With the “practice” of relaxation comes the sense of calm, centeredness and peacefulness that we all need in our lives. This special combination of ingredients allows the participant to improve the fitness level, which includes: aerobic capacity, strength, stamina, balance, bone density, blood pressure, stress level, and the all important positive state of mind.
