Facts Matter

From what I have learned over the past several years of following town politics is you can expect the Garwood Democrats to publish a hit piece titled “Setting the record straight” when anyone calls them out on their misinformation.

So, let's dive a little deeper into Jennifer Blumenstock’s claims in her recently published article. In 2015, Garwood Democrats fired our DPW superintendent even though countless residents poured into borough hall speaking out against the termination of our department head. Council dismissed residents with pre-written statements and continued with their agenda. Next to come was the Fanwood agreement. Leaving Garwood with no option, we were forced to sign on to an agreement with a neighboring town. Garwood and Fanwood have a long-standing political affiliation and it is clear with the continuation of this agreement, politics come first. Over the years council has replaced extremely outdated equipment for the DPW, which I have been following. Slowly, Garwood began to need the Fanwood agreement less and less. Therefore, the only purpose of the agreement is the requirement of the superintendent.

This year with the retirement of our long-time borough admin, her position was split into 2 positions alleviating “too much work” on one person. One of the 2 replacements holds the certificate needed to oversee our DPW and end our shared service agreement. So, I ask myself this: why, when council hired our new admin with less duties than our last, was this not worked into the contract? Why are we not thinking outside the box? Why are we not doing what is best for Garwood??? What is best for Garwood is for our DPW to be Garwood.

As far as the DPW building and current council prioritizing vanity projects over repairs: this year in the middle of the pandemic OUR council purchased $6900 worth of decorative snowflakes, while not giving 2020 raises to our non-union employees. In addition, the council created a social media position that currently pays over $1,000 per month. These are just two small examples of where their priorities lie.

This is the problem with current council. Residents who have attended meetings have seen that there is absolutely no feedback, alternate views, or conversation, it almost seems scripted. Jennifer Blumenstock and Vincent Kearney have made this year’s election like it is their own, making numerous false claims against me over the past few months, including released an article stating that I was lying before I even said anything.

We have barely heard from the Democrat candidates themselves. They have release pre-drafted publications and it shows. Allow our platforms to speak for themselves, and stop the personal attacks and misinformation.
