Foot Chase Leads To Arrest Of Alleged Car Burglar In Clark

James Scott, 26 was arrested by Clark Police following a foot chase that went into Cranford early Friday morning, police report.

CLARK, NJ — After a foot chase, a suspect has been arrested by Clark Police in connection with a car burglary in town very early Friday morning.

Shortly after midnight on March 29, a witness reported to police seeing a man enter a vehicle on Suburban Road in the area of Walnut Avenue, Clark Police Chief Pedro Matos said.

Clark Police responded and located the suspect, later identified as James Scott, 26 at the Delta gas station on the corner of Raritan Road and Walnut Avenue, Matos said.

When officers approached Scott he ran off towards the area of Walnut Avenue in Cranford. Patrol officers chased Scott and arrested him on the property of 755 Walnut Ave. in Cranford, Matos said.

Scott was committed to the Union County Jail on a fugitive warrant out of the state of New York.

Residents from the area of Suburban Road and Walnut Avenue are being asked to check their vehicles and call headquarters at 732-388-3434 if a vehicle was burglarized.
