Garwood Celebrates National Public Works Week, May 17th-23rd
Garwood residents are asked to join in the celebration this week by leaving thank you notes on the top of their garbage cans.

Garwood is celebrating National Public Works Week from May 17-23, 2020, to honor our Borough's "everyday heroes" and their contributions to citizens' daily lives, including the planning, building, managing, and operating the heart of our local communities – its infrastructure.
Garwood residents are asked to join in the celebration this week by leaving notes or children's drawings on the top of their garbage cans thanking our Department of Public Works employees for their hard work throughout the year.
National Public Works Week is celebrated each May to raise awareness of these vitally important contributions of public works professionals and the crucial role that infrastructure, facilities, and
services play in the quality of life in our communities across North America. The awareness week is governed by the American Public Works Association, which shares the value and necessities of public works projects.

This year's National Public Works Week theme is "The Rhythm of Public Works." As the theme suggests, public works keep a community's rhythm moving by providing an orchestra of infrastructure services in transportation, wastewater, storm water treatment, public buildings and spaces, parks, solid waste, and right-of-way management.
