Garwood Daisy Troop Host First Post-COVID Meeting
They each received a Girl Scout mask, a personal hand sanitizer to hang from their bookbags, and badges they earned during quarantine.

GARWOOD, NJ — Garwood Daisy Troop #41108 had their first meeting since COVID on Sept. 12.
Troop Leader Vanessa Schubring and Co-Troop Leaders Mary Alverson and Erika Zurzolo made sure all the girls wore their masks and social distanced during activities. The main goal of the meeting was to welcome the girls back. They each received a Girl Scout mask, a personal hand sanitizer to hang from their bookbags, and all the badges they earned during quarantine.
During quarantine the girls earned most of their petals through various activities, whether it was sending cards to the front line workers, doing chores around their house, planting and maintaining the flowers around town, or joining in a birthday parade to show that even through tough times, they are there for each other.

"I am very proud of these girls and more so impressed by how they stood strong through everything," Schubring said.
As a special surprise, Mayor Sara Todisco and Council President Jen Blumenstock came to speak to the girls about democracy and helped them earn their Democracy Daisy Badge. They spoke about the differences between the town, state, and federal levels of government. They also helped the girls write a letter to the Governor.

After the meeting, Todisco said, "It was an honor to join the Daisies to talk about my two favorite topics — Garwood and social studies. It was nice hearing the girls share what they love about Garwood. Hartman Park was the top answer."
Co-Troop Leader Mary said, "I look forward to seeing all that the girls accomplish this year, and the many badges to be earned and adventures to be had."
