Garwood Driver Was Almost 4 Times Over Limit, Charged With DWI
Marc Atkinson, 33, of Garwood was charged on Super Bowl Sunday after leaving a borough restaurant, police said.
GARWOOD, NJ — A Garwood man, who had a blood alcohol content of almost four times over the legal limit, was arrested for driving while intoxicated on Super Bowl Sunday, police said.
Just before 6 p.m. it was reported to Garwood Police that a highly intoxicated customer at Rudy’s restaurant at 300 South Ave. had just left the restaurant and was driving a blue dodge, Garwood Police Chief Jim Wright said.
Garwood Police Officer Jonathan Pridy stopped a vehicle matching the description on the 100 block of Walnut Street. During the stop officers arrested the driver, identified as Marc Atkinson, 33, of Garwood for DWI, Wright said.

Atkinson was taken to headquarters where he submitted samples of his breath for testing. Atkinson’s blood alcohol content was 0.31 percent, Wright said. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
He was issued several summons including DWI, careless driving, and operating a motor vehicle with an open container and released pending his date in municipal court.
