Garwood Reopens Athletic Fields, Adds Sanitizing Stations
The athletic fields and courts of the Borough's parks have been reopened effective June 22, 2020.
Garwood has reopened the athletic fields and courts of the Borough's parks that were closed under New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy's Executive Order 153, effective 6:00 a.m. June 22, 2020. These areas include:
- the basketball court at Hartman Park,
- the turf field and basketball court at the Garwood Sport and Recreation Complex, and
- the baseball field at the Garwood Sports and Recreation Complex (for organized play only as per Borough practice)
Playgrounds are still NOT permitted for use as per Governor Murphy's Executive Order 133.
The Borough reminds residents to continue to practice social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. For the safety and convenience of residents, the Borough has also installed touchless hand sanitizing stations near:

- the picnic tables in Hartman Park,
- the entrance(s) to the basketball court and turf field at the Garwood Sports and Recreation Complex,
- the deck at the Garwood Sports and Recreation Complex, and
- the vestibule at Borough Hall.
Borough Hall remains closed to the public until the building can be modified for safe social distancing for the staff and public. Locked drop boxes are in the vestibule for convenience. The Borough reminds residents that most documents and information can be found on the Borough website at garwood.org and that they can still reach the Borough offices by calling (908) 789-0710 or emailing garwood@garwood.org.
