Garwood Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car In Crosswalk: Police
Nedra I. Clark, 65, from Garwood died from her injuries after being hit by a car on Thursday night in the borough.
GARWOOD, NJ — A Garwood woman has died from her injuries she got when she was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk on Thursday night, police said.
At around 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nedra I. Clark, 65, from Garwood, was crossing Cedar Street from west to east in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a black Dodge Charger, Garwood Police Chief James Wright said.
The car, driven by a 23-year-old man, had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Cedar Street and Second Avenue to make a left hand turn, Wright said.

The driver then hit Clark when they entered the intersection, Wright said.
Clark was treated at the scene and taken by Garwood First Aid Squad to University Hospital in Newark where she later died from her injuries overnight, Wright said.

The driver had called 911, remained on scene and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. Neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors, according to the preliminary investigation.
