CLARK/GARWOOD, NJ — The state recently released information on how much schools are paying their teachers in the state. See where Clark and Garwood School Districts stacks up:

Clark School District teachers are the 16th highest paid in Union County and 434th highest in the state, according to information released by the state for the 2019-20 school year.

The school district pays teachers a median salary of $61,342, which is 1.84 percent more than last year where teachers made $60,232 on average.

Gawood Borough teachers are the 19th highest paid in Union County and 522nd highest in the state.

The school district pays teachers a median salary of $57,832, which is 1.92 percent more than last year where teachers made $56,742 on average.

Both Clark and Garwood teachers made less than the state median of $68,985, a 1.6 percent increase over last year. Overall, 232 school districts pay more than the state median.

The released information is part of the state Department of Education's Taxpayer's Guide to Education Spending that was just released, showing the median salary in every New Jersey school district and charter school.
