CLARK/GARWOOD, NJ — The state has released information showing how much school districts budgeted for the salaries of principals, superintendents, and administrators in 2019. This is how Clark and Garwood ranked:
In Clark, the median salary is $107,402, it is the 22nd highest in Union County and 455th highest in New Jersey. In Garwood, the median salary is $108,275, it is the 20th highest in Union County and 444th highest in New Jersey.
Berkeley Heights Township had the highest median salary in the county with $149,307 and The Barack Obama Green Charter High School had the lowest with $68,000.

Comparing the median salaries to 2018 Clark had a 2.67 percent decrease, while Garwood had a 2.73 increase.
The median statewide salary is $125,207, a 1 percent increase over 2018.

The information is part of the state Department of Education's Taxpayer's Guide to Education Spending, which shows the median salary in every New Jersey school district for the salaries of principals, superintendents, and administrators in 2019.
In addition to median salaries, the site also shows each district's total spending, average daily enrollment and students from sending districts, the per-pupil costs and the district's total budget spending for 2019.
