CLARK, NJ — A historic landmark in Clark has received some major repairs, with restoration work now completed at the Dr. William Robinson Plantation & Museum.

According to a Nov. 1 announcement from Clark Township, the project involved replacing the building's wood shingle roof, restoring its historic brick chimney, repairing structural timber framing and completing other exterior improvements.

The nearly 340-year-old structure, located at 593 Madison Hill Road, was built around 1690 and is among Clark's oldest surviving historic landmarks.

The project cost $186,510, with funding coming from multiple sources.

Clark Township received a $145,950 grant from the New Jersey Historic Trust in 2024 to support historic preservation planning and roof replacement. The township provided additional funding to the project.

Alden-Bailey Restoration completed the work, which required contractors experienced in historic preservation to maintain the building's original character and architectural integrity.

The property is owned by Clark Township and operated as a museum by the Clark Historical Society.

The restoration marks another milestone for the historic property after the township sought qualified contractors earlier this year.

As Patch previously reported, Clark began accepting qualification statements in May for the roof restoration project.

The township's latest announcement includes photographs showing the restoration work.
