Linden Cop Car Collides With Truck, Officer Taken To Hospital
The 5-vehicle serious crash sent three people to area hospitals including the Linden Police Officer who was suffering from serious injuries.
LINDEN, NJ — A Linden Police Officer was hospitalized after their cop car collided with a truck in a serious crash late Tuesday morning.
The marked Linden Police car, a 2018 Ford Explorer, collided with a 2017 Freightliner utility truck at the intersection of S. Wood Avenue and 19th Street just after 11:40 a.m., Linden Police Lt. Christopher Guenther said.
The truck then collided with a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup. Two parked vehicles were also involved in the crash, Guenther said.

The pickup truck driver and the officer were taken to Newark University Hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the freightliner was taken to RWJBH Rahway Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Union County Police Department Traffic Unit. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call Officer Vic Burisch at 908-654-9800.
