Peaceful End After Man Threatens To Jump Off Linden City Hall

LINDEN, NJ — There has been a peaceful end after a man threatened to harm himself and jump off Linden City Hall on Monday, Linden Police said.

The man was reportedly on top of the three-story City Hall at 300 N. Wood Ave. and threatening to jump as of 3:30 p.m.

"The situation at City Hall has come to a peaceful resolution. Roadways will remain closed while resources clear from the area," Linden Police said as of 6 p.m.

Linden and Union County authorities had been on the scene.

All roadways around City Hall were also closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic while negotiators attempt to resolve the situation, police said.

"The public is asked to avoid the area until further notice. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this process," Linden Police previously said.

The Municipal court session is also canceled Monday night as a result. Notices for new dates will be mailed out.
