Mother, 9-Year-Old Son Hospitalized In 3-Car Crash In Union
A 2013 Mazda SUV crashed into the back of a Toyota before crashing into the back of flatbed tow truck in Union on Friday.
UNION, NJ — A mother and her nine-year-old son were hospitalized after crashing into a car and then a tow truck in Union on Friday morning.
At 9:02 a.m. a Union resident was driving a 2013 Mazda SUV with her nine-year-old son going east on Morris Avenue when she crashed into the back of a 2008 gray Toyota, said Union Township Deputy Chief Scott Breslow.
The Toyota veered off the road into a gas station parking area before coming to a stop, said Breslow.

The Mazda continued east crashing into the back of a flatbed tow truck. The driver suffered serious injuries and her son had minor injuries. Both were taken to University Hospital Trauma Center for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries, said Breslow.
The tow truck driver and the driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries.

Traffic on Morris Avenue in both directions were diverted around the crash for about three hours while the crash scene was processed.
There were no signs of impairment and officers are still determining the cause of the crash, said Breslow.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Union Traffic Officer Joseph Devlin.
