Overdose-Reversal Drug Used 28 Times In 1 Month In Union County

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Police in Union County have administered the naloxone, lifesaving overdose-reversal drug, 28 times in one month to kick off 2019, Union County Prosecutor's Office reproted.

The 28 deployments recorded in January were the most ever for the month, since deployments began in 2014, UCPO said.

In 2018, Union County officers reported using naloxone 307 times compared to 180 times in 2017 and 161 times in 2016, according to the UCPO Spokesman Mark Spivey.

That almost doubled the amount used in the past two years.
