Parkway Lanes Shut Down As Helicopter Picks Up Driver In Clark
The Garden State Parkway was shut down in both directions following a serious crash in Clark.
CLARK, NJ — The Garden State Parkway was shut down in both directions following a serious crash in Clark on Thursday. Three lanes on the southbound side remained closed through the afternoon due to police investigation.
At 9:33 a.m. the Clark Fire Department and Emergency Squad went to the Garden State Parkway to deal with an accident involving a car and a van just before mile marker 134.7 in Clark, said Clark Fire Chief Frank Cerasa.
Firefighters helped pull a driver out of a car. The other driver of a van had minor injuries, said Cerasa.

Medics called the State Police Helicopter to take the driver of the car to an area hospital due to his injuries. The Parkway was shut down in both directions to allow the helicopter to land and pick up the driver, said Cerasa.
The Colonia Fire Department and Emergency Squad along with the Linden Engine Company also helped.
