Pet Supplies Being Collected, Given To Federal Workers In Garwood
Federal employees who are not receiving paychecks because of the government shutdown can get pet food and supplies at Pet Valu in Garwood.

GARWOOD, NJ — A Bergen County pet rescue group is working with local pet stores, including in Garwood, to set up donation drop boxes and pick-up points to help federal workers who are going unpaid during the government shutdown.
Pet ResQ Inc. in Bergen County is asking locals to donate pet food and supplies at local drop box locations including at:
- Pet Valu, 300 South Ave. Suite 7, Garwood
- Pet Valu, 501 N, Route 17, Paramus
- Grateful Dog Grooming, 535 New Brunswick Ave., Fords
- Pedigree Pet Spa, 13 Highland Ave, Metuchen
- Pet Valu, 1354 Centennial Ave., Piscataway Township
The donations will then be given to all federal employees who stop in any of the above locations and show their federal ID.

Around 800,000 federal employees have been furloughed or working without pay since Dec. 21 and won't receive their next paychecks until the government reopens. As of Thursday, the government shutdown is in its 34th day of the shutdown.
