Woman Who Died In Union County Fire Identified

The flames broke out on Tuesday morning.

RAHWAY, NJ — Police have identified the woman who died after flames broke out at a home along High Street on Tuesday.

Tracey Buchanan, 57, died as a result of the fire, according to the Rahway Police Department.

"The Rahway Fire Department, Rahway Police Department, and assisting agencies extend their deepest condolences to the family and loved ones during this difficult time," the department added.

Officials responded to 1583 High Street at around 10:30 a.m. for a report of a structure fire, and were met with flames on both floors of the home. The fire had already resulted in significant damage to the building.

As officers secured the area, a resident was stopped from re-entering for his safety. Firefighters also had to temporarily evacuate due to the deteriorating condition of the home.

The cause of the fire is still under review.
