Police became aware of the threat around 2:15 p.m. after students reported seeing a post that contained “LHS” and a name similar to that of a high school staff member.

As a safety precaution students were released in a controlled dismissal as scheduled with an additional police presence.

Police sent out an alert to residents asking pedestrians and motorists to stay away from the school during the dismissal.

A sweep of the school was made by Linden Police Officers, with assistance from the Union County Police Department, and the area was deemed safe.

"As always, our No. 1 priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff, and we are grateful for your patience and support in this matter," Robertozzi said in a letter to parents.

All students and staff members are safe, and after school activities are going on as scheduled, police reported.

"We will thoroughly investigate and prosecute any threats made against our schools," said Linden Police Chief David Hart. "Disruptive behavior such as this unnecessarily puts our students and first responders in danger and will not be tolerated."
