The ShopRite gift cards will be distributed by the Emergency Food Relief program under direction from the city's office of Social Services. For decades, the Linden Interfaith Network for Community Service (LINCS) has distributed non-perishable items twice a month to individuals and families in need of basic necessities. The Mayor’s program is supplementing their efforts during the health crisis.
“We are proud to support Mayor Armstead and his efforts to help the residents of Linden through his COVID-19 Emergency Food Relief Program,” said Terry Glass, co-CEO of Glass Gardens, Inc., a family-owned business. “The ShopRite of Linden and all our ShopRite stores have a history of supporting the communities where we operate and take seriously our role in helping supply local families with the essential items they need.”

"With the demand for assistance rising several layers of magnitude in such a short time, it was apparent that the volunteers at LINCS were not going to be able to meet all the demand, so we put together our Food Relief program," said Armstead. "If anyone in Linden finds themselves suddenly struggling, I want them to know that they can call my office at 908-474-8493 and we will do our best to connect them with the help they need."
Monetary donations can be made out to the Mayor’s Youth Commission. Linden residents who want to make a food donation should contact the Mayor’s Office at 908-474-8493 to set up a delivery time at Linden’s Food Relief Building.
