Union County College To Host Virtual Spring Commencement
Looking ahead, more in-person classes are expected to be offered this fall. No decisions have been made on vaccination requirements.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — As the spring semester begins to wind down, Union County College said they are planning for a virtual commencement on May 26 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The college had previously held a virtual winter commencement in February.
Looking ahead, Union County College is planning to increase the number of in-person classes in the fall. The college had begun resuming in-person classes for fall 2020.

"We expect to significantly increase the percent of classes that are offered on campus. The other modalities, online and remote live, will continue to be offered," said Jaime M. Segal, UCC Executive Director of College Relations & Secretary of the Boards.
As far as COVID-19 vaccinations, Segal said the college has "not adopted a vaccine policy at this time."

Rutgers announced last week that it will require all students who wish to return to campus prove they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. Read More: Rutgers Will Require COVID-19 Vaccines For All Students
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, those in their 20s can indeed get coronavirus but the rates of hospitalization and deaths are much higher among older adults (45 times higher in 30-to-39-year-olds and exponentially higher in those 85 and older).
