Union County Man Had Over 200K Photos, Videos Of Child Porn: AG

MD Farid Uddin, 44, of Elizabeth was among 79 child predators and child pornography offenders ​arrested in "Operation Safety Net."

ELIZABETH, NJ — A Union County man was charged with having more than 200,000 videos and images of suspected child pornography on his computer and sharing it on the internet, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal announced.

MD Farid Uddin, 44, of Elizabeth pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree distribution of child pornography (knowingly storing or maintaining child pornography in a file-sharing program) before Superior Court Judge Candido Rodriguez Jr. in Union County.

Under the plea agreement, the state will recommend that Uddin be sentenced to six years in state prison, including three years of parole ineligibility. He will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and will be subject to parole supervision for life.

Additionally, Uddin also turned over numerous boxes of counterfeit perfume with an estimated value in excess of $1 million that detectives seized from his garage when they executed a search warrant at the time of his arrest, Grewal said.

Uddin is scheduled to be sentenced on March 22.

"Super possessors of child pornography like Uddin who distribute these materials on the internet generate increased demand for this filth and directly drive the sexual abuse of young children," said Grewal. "We will continue our collaborative efforts to protect children by vigorously investigating and prosecuting these criminals."

Uddin was among 79 child predators and child pornography offenders arrested in “Operation Safety Net,” a multi-agency child protection operation led by the New Jersey Regional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. in 2017.
