• Loose Change, Fake Gun: Two Charged in Clifton Car Burglaries (thecliftontimes.com) — Police say two men from Passaic were caught breaking into cars in a Clifton commercial lot on East Madison Avenue, allegedly taking only loose change and dropping what turned out to be a fake handgun. Officers also reported finding knives, drug paraphernalia and suspected pills, and both men now face multiple burglary, weapons and drug-related charges while presumed innocent.
• N.J. town faces federal lawsuit over denied mosque. Residents say it's discrimination. (nj.com subscription) — A federal lawsuit over a denied mosque in Marlboro is drawing attention to what advocates call a broader pattern of discrimination in New Jersey land-use decisions involving Muslim communities. Clifton residents are part of that picture, with 30 locals suing over rejected plans to significantly expand the Islamic Center of Passaic County, raising questions about equal treatment for religious institutions across the state.
