6 Heroin Overdoses, Including 1 Death, Reported in Camden on Wednesday

Law enforcement officers are concerned about the safety of drug users coming into the city to purchase narcotics.

A rash of heroin overdoses that took place in Camden on Wednesday have law enforcement concerned about the safety of drug users coming into the city to purchase narcotics.

A total of six overdoses, including one fatality, were reported in Camden on Wednesday, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said Wednesday evening.

Five of those overdoses took place between 7:45 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., with the sixth overdose being reported after 2:40 p.m. All of the victims were transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment.

A 39-year-old Lawnside man died as a result of his overdose.

The other victims included a 23-year-old Bordentown woman, a 45-year-old Lawnside woman, a 47-year-old Camden man, a 43-year-old National Park woman and a 29-year-old man whose address was not available.

All of the overdoses are believed to be related to heroin use.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Camden County Police Department are currently investigating the origin of this dangerous drug.
