Alleged Bellmawr Bank Robber Died of Drug Overdose: Police

Camden County Police found the body of a 36-year-old Haddon Heights man in Camden Saturday morning.

A Haddon Heights man wanted in connection with a bank robbery in Bellmawr has been found dead of an apparent drug overdose, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo, Bellmawr Police Chief William Walsh and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said Wednesday afternoon.

Camden County Police found the body of 36-year-old Michael C. Decarlo on Mickle Boulevard under the Interstate 676 overpass in Camden around 11:45 a.m. Saturday morning. Numerous empty heroin bags were allegedly found on his person.

A subsequent autopsy determined Decarlo died from the adverse effects of drugs.

Decarlo had been identified as the suspect in the robbery of the TD Bank located at 180 North Black Horse Pike in Bellmawr that took place the previous day.
