COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A 59-year-old man was arrested after reports of shots fired at the Parkview Towers apartments on August 12, the Collingswood Police Department said on Friday.
Neil Nguyen was charged with third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law.
Officers responded along with members of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office after being told one of the buildings had been shot.
A Collingswood Police Officer noticed the man and a gun while looking through a first-floor window.
Out of an abundance of caution, other professionals, such as crisis negotiators and mental health personnel, responded to the scene.
Nguyen surrendered without conflict after brief negotiations, according to authorities.
An air-powered rifle that was seen through the window was later confiscated.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact (856) 854-1901 (ext. 262).
