Andrews Wins Landslide, Runyan Defeats Adler

Eleven-term incumbent Democratic Rob Andrews will head back to the House of Representatives after crushing Republican Greg Horton in the 1st District.

With 98 percent of the vote reported late Tuesday night, Andrews had more than doubled Horton’s total, winning 192,486 to 85,967.

Andrews won despite a House ethics panel in August finding “substantial reason to believe” he improperly spent campaign funds on trips to California and Scotland.

Meanwhile, Shelley Adler lost to incumbent Republican Jon Runyan in the 3rd District race. With 99 percent of the vote in early Wednesday morning, it was 155,770 to 131,417 in favor of Runyan, who benefited from redistricting that cut heavily Democratic Cherry Hill out of the 3rd.

Adler was running for the seat once held by her late husband, but polls had indicated she faced an uphill battle. An internal poll by Runyan's camp showed a 16-point gap, while the nonpartisan Stockton Polling Institute marked it a 10-point difference.
