A Voorhees man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the speedline between the New Jersey and Philadelphia stops on Jan. 27.

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ - A 45-year-old Voorhees man has been arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman who was incapacitated on the PATCO high speedline last week, authorities announced.

Charles Arcano, 45, is accused of assaulting the woman on the speedline at about 4 a.m. on Jan. 27, between the Philadelphia and New Jersey stops, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. The assault was captured on video.

Arcano is accused of sexually assaulting the woman after she had been drinking, according to the probable cause statement provided by the prosecutor's office.

Arcano boarded the train in Philadelphia at the same time as the woman and her friend, police said. Her friend was able to get off the train at their stop in Collingswood, but the woman was unable to exit the train, and ultimately passed out.

At this point, authorities said Arcano approached her and began to grope and sexually assault her. She woke up and attempted to fight him off. He forced her to touch him over his clothes, and forced her to sit in his lap and continue to assault her, police said.

During the investigation, detectives identified the driver who dropped Arcano off. The driver identified Arcano as the assailant, according to authorities.

Arcano was charged with first-degree aggravated assault, sexual assault, aggravated sexual contact and criminal restraint on Feb. 5, authorities announced.

Arcano was arrested by the Delaware River Port Authority in South Philadelphia and is awaiting extradition to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing. At this hearing, the court may order he be detained or release under Criminal Justice Reform.
