Birthday Party For Queen Elizabeth Takes Place In Collingswood

The celebration also recognized another milestone the queen celebrates this year.

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A celebration that was fit for a king ... um ... queen took place on Saturday in Collingswood.

The Holy Trinity Church on Haddon Avenue commemorated Queen Elizabeth's 96th birthday and platinum jubilee.

With Her Majesty a Protestant, and the planners of the event Episcopalian, the event also provided an opportunity to bring together two different religious groups.

"A little tiff known as the American Revolution changed the [Organizational] Chart and removed us here in the colonies from her direct reporting chain, but for one weekend, we can let bygones be bygones and celebrate with our English brothers and sisters," the event planners wrote on Holy Trinity Church's Facebook page.

Scones, sandwiches, cakes and — perhaps not surprisingly, if one knows most of Britain's fondness for a particular beverage — tea were served. The celebration started at 4 p.m., which some consider the time the British take a break to indulge in one of their favorite beverages.
