Body Found in Newton Creek Identified

An autopsy of the body discovered on Tuesday was conducted on Wednesday.

The man whose body was found in Newton Creek Tuesday afternoon has been identified as 31-year-old Marcus Fennell, of Bridgeton, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Oaklyn Police Chief Mark Moore said Wednesday afternoon.

An autopsy conducted on Wednesday afternoon determined that Fennell drowned in the creek.

The manner of death is undetermined pending further investigation and toxicology testing, but authorities don’t believe his death was suspicious in nature.

Two fishermen reported finding Fennell’s body around 4:45 p.m. at the creek near the White Horse Pike in Oaklyn.
