Camden Man Sentenced in 2012 Fatal Stabbing

A Camden man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman in the city about two hours after he stabbed another victim in 2012, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said.

Hector Cordero Arocho, 35, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter in May. He must serve about 21 years and three months of his term before becoming eligible for parole. He was also sentenced to five years of supervised release.

Cordero Arocho admitted that he committed a series of stabbings within hours on June 11, 2012.

First, he stabbed a then-27-year-old Camden man near Broadway and Royden Street at about 1 a.m.. The man survived.

About two hours later, Cordero Arocho stabbed 42-year-old Delita Robinson with a knife near 8th and Division Streets in Camden. Robinson, a Camden resident, was pronounced dead at 3:45 a.m. at Cooper University Hospital.

Cordero Arocho did not provide a motive for the attacks, which were described as “brutal” and “violent” by the Assistant Prosecutor during the trial.

Cordero Arocho was also sentenced to a concurrent term of five years in jail for stabbing a fellow inmate with a pencil while awaiting trial at the Camden County Jail. In that case, he pleaded guilty in June to third-degree aggravated assault.
