Center In Collingswood Releases Total Raised From Ukranian Art Exhibit

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — The organizers of the pop-up exhibit titled "Art for Ukraine" at the Perkins Center for the Arts' Collingswood Loft Gallery told Patch the event helped the center raise more than $4,o00 for those impacted by the war in Ukraine.

The pop-up exhibit, which ran from April 18 through April 29, displayed work from Ukrainian artists. Blues and yellows — the colors of the Ukranian flag — dominated many of the pieces.

The center's staff forwent a practice of receiving some of the proceeds from an exhibit so the money could help those in Ukraine, it said. Any donations received during the exhibit also went to those in Ukraine, the staff also said.

Ukrainian Federation of America was the primary recipient of the funds, Kahra F. Buss, the executive director of the Perkins Center for the Arts, said in an interview.

"Perkins Center for the Arts was honored to be selected by these artists as the showcase for their work in support of the humanitarian relief efforts for Ukraine," Buss also told Patch. "As a regional, community, cultural asset, the Center is dedicated to providing support to our communities through awareness, education and engagement opportunities through the arts."
