Collingswood Man Among 8 Busted In Drug Trafficking Conspiracy: Authorities

Jeffrey Whitaker sold crack cocaine and heroin on the streets of Camden as part of the conspiracy, authorities allege.

Collingswood, NJ -- A Collingswood man is among eight people who participated in a crack cocaine and heroin trafficking organization operating in Camden, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said.

Jeffrey Whitaker, 32, was among three people already in jail who were charged with drug trafficking conspiracy. The other two were Joseph Boyd, 31, and Nafeez Griffin, 30, both of Camden.

Five other people were arrested on Monday and charged by complaint with drug trafficking conspiracy. They were Jason Boyd, 36, Preston Thomas, 30, Julian Dickerson, 24, Derek Stallworth, 20, and Tony Wilson, 24, all of Camden.

The drug trafficking took place in and around Camden, with criminal activities concentrated on the 1100 block of Lansdowne Avenue, between November of 2015 and September of 2016, according to the complaints.

Joseph Boyd, Jason Boyd, and Thomas are the alleged leaders and managers of the operation, while Whitaker, Stallworth, Wilson, Dickerson, and Griffin staffed the block during assigned shifts and sold drugs to customers who approached on foot and in vehicles, authorities said.

The investigation began in late 2015, and involved controlled purchases of crack cocaine and heroin, and multiple authorized wiretaps of phones used by members of the conspiracy, authorities said.

The drug trafficking conspiracy count carries a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a $5 million fine.
