Collingswood Native and Congressional Candidate's Lawsuit Against County Clerk Dismissed

Alex Law had filed a lawsuit over the county clerk's failure to disclose specifics of the ballot construction process.

A suit filed by Collingswood native and congressional candidate Alex Law against Camden County Clerk Joseph Ripa has been dismissed, njpen.com reports.

In the suit, Law accused Ripa of not revealing the process for construction of the ballot, according to the report. State law says the ballot is designed following a random drawing held by the county clerk.

State law says candidates who file as a group all have their names filed on the same line of the voting machine. For instance, all Democrats are placed on the same line, as are all Republicans. Each group of candidates is drawn as a single name during ballot construction.

Law said it isn’t clear as to if the groups, or bracketed, names are drawn at the same time as individuals, if a minimum number of names is needed to be drawn as a group and if this process applies to the presidential election, according to the report.

He said Ripa failed to disclose the process, despite Law’s repeated requests for information.
