Collingswood Woman Dies Due To Coronavirus

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A Collingswood woman in her 90s has died after testing positive for coronavirus, Camden County officials announced on Friday. She was one of 11 new deaths announced countywide on Friday.

A total of 218 Camden County residents have died after testing positive for coronavirus. The following information is available about the new deaths in Camden County:

  • Case 2: FEMALE, 90s, COLLINGSWOOD
  • Case 3: MALE, 80s, CHERRY HILL
  • Case 4: DEMALE, 90s, BARRINGTON
  • Case 5: FEMALE, 80s, VOORHEES
  • Case 6: FEMALE, 80s, CAMDEN
  • Case 7: MALE, 70s, VOORHEES
  • Case 8: FEMALE, 70s, CHERRY HILL
  • Case 9: MALE, 90s, CHERRY HILL
  • Case 10: FEMALE, 80s, BELLMAWR
  • Case 11: MALE, 90s, GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP

“We are sending our sincerest condolences to 11 more families tonight, as we announce the tragic death of 11 Camden County residents which were caused by COVID-19. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those affected by this disease, their families, friends, and loved ones,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “We are continuing to fight this virus with every weapon at our disposal. The simple truth is that while this period of staying at home has worn on us all, we must continue to be serious about our social distancing efforts. This virus has not been eradicated; it has not been stopped. The only way to protect yourself and your family is to stay home and avoid areas where you cannot maintain distance from others.”

A Collingswood woman in her 50s was among 140 new cases of coronavirus identified in the county on Friday. Trace investigations are underway in all new cases.

There are now 3,890 cases of coronavirus in Camden County, 1,015 of which have been connected to the county’s 56 long-term care facilities, according to the Camden County Department of Health. Out of the 218 deaths, 175 have been linked to the county’s nursing homes.
