Colonial Football Wrap: Haddons Win

The Panthers, Lions, and Gators fell to 0-2 on the young season, while Haddon Heights, Sterling, and West Deptford remain unbeaten.

Haddonfield 36, Lindenwold 0

Haddonfield bounced back from a season-opening loss to Paulsboro in convincing fashion, smothering Lindenwold 36-0 Friday night.

The Bulldawgs scored a first-half safety and chewed up the clock with a running game that accounted for four of their touchdowns, including a pair of TDs from Adam Augugliaro, who scored from the 1-yard line and on a 55-yarder.

Dan Clemente rumbled in from 11 yards to score the decisive TD after Collingswood let the Hawks off the hook with two third-down penalties that gave Haddon Township new life each time.

Collingswood had a chance to tie or win outright after taking over with around two minutes left in the fourth quarter, but had a fourth-down pass picked off. The loss drops them to 0-2 on the season. Haddon Township is now 1-1.

Haddon Heights 48, Audubon 20

The Garnets' new offense was run to perfection by quarterback Dante Pinckney, who completed 11-of-14 for 221 yards and three touchdowns against the hapless Green Wave.

Two of the TDs—one for 55 yards and the other for 13—went to Kashif Miller, while the other was a 36-yarder to Kenny Lewis.

Pinckney also rushed for 77 yards and a score. Brandon Joyner was the other scoring threat, rushing for three touchdowns among his 10 carries.

For Audubon, Kahleil Chisolm was the only option—he scored all three Green Wave touchdowns on the afternoon.

Overbrook 42, Gateway 6

The Rams racked up seven touchdowns against Gateway Friday night—and only two of them came on offense.

Overbrook got a punt return for a TD, an interception return for a touchdown and two fumble recoveries for touchdowns in its rout of the Gators. Allen Gaskins was the standout on defense, recording a sack, forcing a fumble and returning a fumble for a touchdown, all to go with seven tackles. On offense, Jordan Lowber (three carries, 56 yards, one touchdown) was Overbook's top man.

Sterling 13, Paulsboro 10

Paulsboro saw its hopes for a 2-0 start get dashed in the fourth quarter in a 13-10 loss at Sterling.

After taking a 10-7 lead at halftime on a 70-yard touchdown pass from Zack Funk to Derrick Burgess and a 38-yard Mike Maccarone field goal, Paulsboro had a chance to shut things down with a late goal-line stand.

But Sterling's Khalil Howard had other plans, punching it in from a yard out to give his team the victory.

West Deptford 45, Woodbury 24

Gerald Owens ran for three touchdowns and Josh Cornelius rushed for two more, delivering Clyde Folsom his 200th career victory as a head coach.

Owens and Cornelius racked up 315 yards by themselves on a night when the Eagles didn't complete a single pass. Alabama-bound Woodbury quarterback Anthony Averett had a touchdown pass, but was limited to around 50 yards rushing on the night.
