Come Meet Haddon Township's Specality Coffee Roaster at Whole Foods Cherry Hill!

Haddon Township based specialty coffee roasted Royal Mile Coffee will be at the Hatchery in Whole Foods Market Cherry Hill.

I’m Jamie, one half of the local small business Royal Mile Coffee Roasters that I run with my wife, Jessica. Maybe you know of us already, as we’ve done some local promotion and events. We are a family-run business since December 2013, selling bags of small-batch, freshly roasted coffee online and in a few local shops such as McFarlan’s in Merchantville and Gourmet Popcorn in Collingswood. You can now also find us at select dates at the Hatchery in Whole Foods Market Cherry Hill! Our upcoming dates are January 3 and January 14 and we’ll publish future dates on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Because this is our first story on Patch, I’d like to write a little more about us.

We began selling exclusively online. Over the summer of 2014 our operation expanded into the SOHA Arts Space in Haddon Township. The popular coffee news site Sprudge wrote an introduction story on us here, where we share a little about why we chose that space and our philosophy on coffee. All of the coffee we source meets the SCAA (Specality Coffee Association of America) guidelines, essentially meaning that the green coffee grades higher than 80 out of 100. We then roast small batches carefully to bring out the subtle and delicate flavors. Our stock rotates seasonally so that we always have super fresh beans. Thrillist magazine picked up one of our very best (graded a 91!) coffees, a dry-processed Ethiopia Yirga Cheffe Dumerso, and named us one of the best new roasters in America. By the way, you can still order this coffee from our website.

As a small business, we bow before the trail blazers who inspire us, like Counter Culture in North Carolina, Joe Coffee in New York, and Cuvee in Austin. Like them, we focus on being a part of our local community and good ambassadors of coffee culture at large. That said, our goal at the Whole Foods Hatchery is to bring a different coffee to sample each time so people can taste coffees from different regions. Did you know coffee from Africa can taste wildly different from coffee in Central America? It even varies farm by farm. We love meeting face-to-face with people in the community to talk about coffee and our story. We are committed to giving each friendly face an excellent experience. So whether you’re a coffee lover or not, we’d love to meet you and chat! Stop by the Hatchery and say hello, or drop us a line.
