Dennis Arthur Hoben, 86, formerly of Milford passed away at Bridgeport Hospital on April 8, 2026. Born on December 3, 1939, in Audubon, NJ. Dennis was the son of the late Joseph and Grace (Simmons) Hoben. He had lived in Milford since 1981 before recently moving to Fairfield.
Dennis lived a life defined by curiosity, determination, and generosity. A graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, Dennis began his career as a food microbiologist with the Campbell’s Soup Company in Camden, New Jersey and later continuing to work as a senior staff food microbiologist with Pepperidge Farm in Norwalk, Connecticut. His work took him across the country until his retirement in 1996.
Outside of his profession, Dennis was deeply passionate about amateur radio, proudly participating in the Milford Amateur Radio Club, recently renewing his amateur radio license. He built his first “Heath” radio Model: “The Sixer” (vacuum tubes) back in high school. Dennis also found joy on the golf course, embracing the game with the same persistence he brought to all aspects of life. Resilient and stubborn in the face of challenges, he defied expectations-even walking at 80 when told he wouldn’t and remained kind-hearted, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Dennis was always ready to sit down and have a cup of tea with lemon and carry on in a long conversation regarding: How to get somewhere on a vacation, (Dennis was a walking GPS), what cars get the best gas mileage, and what amateur radio operators he has spoken with on his radios from far away counties.
Dennis is survived by his children, Drew (Kristen) Hoben, Todd (Jennifer) Hoben, and Kurt Hoben; his grandchildren, Brian (Megan), James (Sydney), Heather, Nicholas (Julianna), Ethan, Kyle, Gavin, and Mason; his five great grandchildren (and one on the way), and fellow Pepperidge Farm co-worker and longtime friend, John Ference. Dennis was predeceased by his son Eric Hoben and longtime companion Sandra Sinnott.
