Early Morning Shooting Claims S.J. Man's Life: Prosecutor
Police responded to reports of the shooting just before 1:30 a.m.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Camden early Wednesday morning, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said.
Camden County Police found 22-year-old Stephen Bennett Jr., of Camden, lying on the sidewalk in the area of 6th Street and Ferry Avenue near the I-676 overpass in Camden while responding to a ShotSpotter notification and several 911 calls about a person shot around 1:23 a.m.
Bennett Jr. was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 1:44 a.m.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
