Get Up Collingswood! Returns With Giant Jenga, Connect Four May 26
Collingswood residents can get to know each other and find out about volunteer opportunities.

The second annual Get Up, Collingswood! – a volunteer night and community meet and greet - is set for May 26, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Ballroom (315 White Horse Pike).
Representatives of various organizations will be on hand to speak with residents about volunteer possibilities. Residents can also meet their neighbors and enjoy a Collingswood-spirited night out while signing up to give back.
Hundreds attended the inaugural event last year, officials said.

“Last year was outstanding,” Collingswood Mayor Jim Maley said. “We were hoping to connect a few dozen people with a handful of groups but people came out in droves. A lot of organizations found new faces that night, but there are still groups that could use new hands and a lot of people in town that ask us how they can get involved. This is how we can connect those two groups.”
Residents can challenge each other to a giant game of Jenga. This year’s event will include a giant Connect Four game set.

There will be craft beers on tap, giveaways (including Collingswood Cash, tickets to Scottish Rite shows and Collingswood merchandise), snacks from Collingswood eateries like IndeBlue and crafts and entertainment for kids! The event is free.
Events like May Fair, the Book Festival, Holiday Parade, Green Festival and the Farmers’ Market Associations require volunteers to plan and execute some of Collingswood’s most loved events and sustain important organizations. The goal is to pair enthusiastic citizens interested in giving their time with groups that need volunteers.
“We signed up some great people last year who have become an intricate part of our organization,” Book Festival Chair Jean Brennan said. “It was so energizing to see so many young families wanting to get involved and making the volunteer night kid friendly was a great idea.”
“New volunteers bring new energy and ideas to our events and organizations,” Commissioner Mike Hall said. “They’re essential to everything that makes Collingswood the place that everyone wants to be. If you love being here, consider being a part of what makes it great on May 26.”
