  • Andy Canadian (of Canadian Invasion)—Collingswood-born Andy Canadian is a singer and songwriter known as the brainchild behind acclaimed band Canadian Invasion. Named "Philadelphia's Best Power-Pop Band," by Magnet magazine, Canadian Invasion's critics and fans have both praised Andy for his sardonic examinations of living a suburban middle-class life. Andy's latest project? A Choose Your Own Adventure album that zeroes-in on snake-handlers and UFO-ologists. In his down-time, Andy teaches English. See Andy in full-force Friday at Grooveground coffee shop—located at 647 Haddon Ave.—for this free event that's open to anyone.   • Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat—Come out and see Collingswood Community Theatre's Friday night performance of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Auditorium—located at 315 White Horse Pike in Collingswood. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available to purchase at the door until 30 minutes before showtime. Saturday, February 19

  • Jerry Blavat Dance Party—Itching to see the Geator with the Heater? That dream comes true this Saturday, during the Jerry Blavat Dance Party. The show starts at 8 p.m. and will be held in the Collingswood Grand Ballroom—located at 315 White Horse Pike in Collingswood. Tickets are $35 per person, and include a dinner buffet, beer and all-night dancing. All proceeds from the show will benefit the Collingswood Holiday Parade and Collingswood Foundation for the Arts.   • Collingswood Shakespeare Club Productions—This Saturday, choose from one of two productions being performed by the Collingswood Shakespeare Company. The first performance, the Troilus & Cressida Show, begins at 3 p.m. The second production, the Trojan Women Show, starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Combo tickets are available for $25, and include access to both shows on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or online at Collingswood Shakespeare Company's website

 

 

Sunday, February 20

  • Private Beading Class—Feeling crafty? You're in luck—this private jewelry-making class is local, and budget-friendly at $10 per person. The class will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Jubilee Beads & Yarns—located at 713 Haddon Ave. in Collingswood. Learn how to design your own necklace, string it up with professional beading wire, and attach a clasp using a crimping tube. Your completed necklace doubles as a take-home trinket. Hosted by Kate Stewart, the course will be held in the upstairs classroom section of Jubilee Beads & Yarns. To add to the fun, any students who want to continue making jewelry will receive 10 percent off any purchase they make in the store following the class (offer good only on the same day as the class). RSVP today—space is limited. Cost is $10 to reserve a room and light refreshments, and attendees pay $13 per person on the day of the class (which includes necklace-making supplies).   • Tree of Life Shamanic Circle—A class for those feeling more meditative this Sunday. Held at Bliss Body Studio—located at 616 Collings Ave. in Collingswood—this class is free, but donations are appreciated in support of the studio. The class focuses on the power of the drum, a shaman's most powerful tool. Through guided Shamanic Journeying, this workshop is healing on a personal level and helps deepen meditation. From 4 to 4:30 p.m., students will learn the basics of Shamanic Journeying (more advanced students are welcome to join in at 4:30 p.m., after the beginner's session ends). From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., students will be guided in deep meditation and other journeys using drums. And once everyone's feeling relaxed, the group will enjoy a Pot Luck Dinner from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. All attendees are required to bring: a Pot Luck food dish, a drum, a notebook and pen, and a bandana or similar item to cover the eyes during meditation.
