Collingswood Resident, Band to Celebrate Release of New CD

Collingswood resident Chris DiPinto will perform on March 27 with his band Creem Circus. Creep Records releases "Rock and/or Roll."

Fishtown Glam Rockers Creem Circus to Host CD Release Party at Bourbon & Branch

Records recording artist Creem Circus will bring its brand of 21st century glam rock to Bourbon and Branch for its album release party on Friday, March 27. The Creem Circus debut album “Rock and/or Roll” embodies the band’s 1970s inspired, glitter-glam aesthetic and will be available at the event.

Proudly hailing from Fishtown section of Philadelphia, Creem Circus band members describes themselves as “your favorite band’s favorite band.” The 10-track CD was three years in the making and filled with catchy hooks and soaring guitar riffs. The band’s “hard, glitter, tandem lead, platform-power chord rock and roll with lots of boogie down soul” style. The sound may be inspired by legends of glam rock such as David Bowie, Sweet, Slade and T-Rex, but the raw sounds is all about Philly and especially Fishtown. So turn it up loud, grab your platform shoes and bell-bottoms and get ready to rock out!

The band’s moniker references two popular rock magazines in the ‘70s - “Creem” and “Circus” – but music fans probably caught that.

Fronted by guitarist and luthier, Chris DiPinto, also known as “Chris Th’ Pinto,” owns and operates DiPinto Electric Guitars and Basses in Fishtown. The band members are a Philly’s Who’s Who of musicians: Jim Cara- rhythm/lead guitar - makes basses for Gene Simons of Kiss;

Ned Sonstien- bass/backing vocals - also plays in Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret; and Rob Giglio- drums - also plays in Beretta 76.

DiPinto Guitars, located at 407-409 E. Girard Ave., Philadelphia, was founded in 1995 as a repair shop has evolved to specialize in oddball vintage guitars and DiPinto’s own guitar creations.

The CD-s Release show begins at 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 27 at Bourbon & Branch, 705 N. Second Street, Philadelphia, Pa., 19123. 215-238-0660. Admission: $7 in advance, $10 at the door, $14 for admission & CD. Opening acts: Jukebox Zeros, Souldiers of Soul & Candy Volcano.
